What is a Dream?

A dream is a repetition of thoughts, images and emotions. Every person is expected to have around two hours worth of dreams every night. But, some dreamers imagine their dreams as being longer than this.

The role of dreams is a subject of debate. dreams

During the last two centuries, various theories about dreams have been proposed. These theories are based on the notion that dreams are the manifestations caused by brain activity, a psychological process that takes place during the REM stage of sleep.

The conscious part of the brain is working on processing memories. It results in a stream of information from memory stores that circulates through the conscious part that is the brain. This is sometimes referred to as the theory of continuous activation.

Another theory, known as the stimulus response theory, acknowledges the notion that dreams are a type of wish-fulfillment. It is because dreams are desires that are not met in the real world.

The threat simulation theory suggests that dreaming serves an evolutionary purpose. During the REM phase of sleep, the amygdala, which forms a portion of the section known as the fight or flight part of your brain, activates similarly to when confronted by a danger. This would have been the evolutionary benefit of preparing the human body for potentially dangerous scenarios.

The REM stage

REM, or rapid eye movement is what we call it in the realm of sleep. At night where the brain makes most use of its resources recreating the things it's learned in its regular hours of. For instance, the sexual sexifier. The Octavet's levels are at their highest and this is also the ideal time for being with your significant other.

The REM space is also home to many of the popular brainwaves from the day, as well as the more esoteric ones. Most notable occupants who are REM-bound include insomniacs as well as depressed types. Incredibly, a study from the past indicates that people with depression are more likely to go to bed earlier and for longer periods of time. This is due to a combination of causes, the most evident being that they have an adolescent daughter.

Nightmares

To experience nightmares can be frightening experience. They are usually accompanied by other unpleasant emotions. They can be experienced infrequently or on a regular basis. They can also be triggered by anxiety or trauma. In certain instances they could be related to medical conditions.

First step to stop your nightmares , is to understand how they function. The topic of a dream could be influenced by a number of factors, including how the dreamer is feeling as well as the topic of a prior dream, recent news, or other events within the dreamer's world.

In some instances the dreamer is able to modify the content of a dream, and even the result. It can be done by a variety of methods but the most effective method is to try to recreate a changed version of the dream prior to going to sleep.

Latent content

There is a debate over whether there is the underlying and hidden meanings in dreams is a subject of debate. Freud asserted that the two are interrelated. He also compared dreams to an Iceberg. There's a segment of an iceberg that can be seen above water, while the rest are hidden under the surface.

Freud believed that there are three aspects to the mind. Minds that are conscious constitute at the highest point of the pyramid while Latent and unconscious minds are at the bottom. According to him, the best way to glimpse the unconscious was by way of dreams.

There are two kinds of dream content: latent and manifest. This latter type includes the actual content of the dream and the significance behind it. A lot of times, it's comprised of memory fragments and symbolic events. In the theory of physics it's possible to transform your manifest contents into latent.

Freud's Axiom

Sigmund Freud's dream axiom refers to dreams as wish-fulfillments. This implies that all humans are neurotic. Furthermore, Freud stated that dreams can't be real, only they're a way to substitute for reality.

The dream's content is divided into two components one of which is the manifest, and another called the latent. The manifest component is an actual dream content, and the latent part is the hallucinatory part from the dream. The manifest content results from processing information. The hidden contents are desire and other kinds of hallucination.

There are four ways to hide the latent dream. They are decryption, displacement transference, disguise, and decryption. The first is displacement. It happens when a sleeper is able to substitute elements of their dream with the same elements that are in the dream. It's due to the weakness of the sleep brain.
