What's a Dream?

A dream is a repetition of thoughts, images and feelings. We are all expected to have 2 hours of dreams per night. However, some dreamers consider that their dreams are longer than this.

Theories of the role of dreams

In the last two centuries, a variety of theories about dreams have been proposed. These theories stem from the belief that dreams are manifestations caused by brain activity, a psychological process that takes place during the REM stage of sleep.

In this time, the unconscious brain is in the process of processing memory. The result is a data stream of memory stored that flows through the conscious portion and brain. The theory is commonly referred to as the theory of continual activation.

Another theoryis called the"stimulus reaction theory," recognizes the notion that dreams are a form of wish-fulfillment. It is because dreams are desire that is not fulfilled on a daily basis.

The threat simulation theory proposes that dreams serve as evolutionary purposes. In the REM stage of sleep, the amygdalaarea, which is a part of the section known as the fight or flight part of the brain, is activated similarly to the response to a threat to survival. This might have brought about the evolutionary benefit of prepping the human body for potentially dangerous events.

Stage REM

The term REM (or rapid eye) movement, is the word to use when it comes to sleep. During this twilight state brain uses the vast majority of its capacity by re-learning traits it hasn't learned in its regular hours of. One example is the sexuality. When this is the time, the Octavet is at its best, and this is an ideal time to be with your significant other.

The REM region is also home to many of the most well-known brainwaves of the day, including the more mysterious ones. The most well-known REM-bound residents include depressed types and insomniacs. An interesting study finds that those with depression tend to fall asleep more frequently and for longer periods of time. This could be due to a range several factors, with the main obvious one being the fact that they have an adolescent.

Nightmares

To experience nightmares can be frightening experience. They're usually associated with other unpleasant emotions. They may occur frequently or frequently. They may also be triggered through anxiety or trauma. In certain instances they could even be associated with medical conditions.

The first step toward reducing your nightmares , is to understand how they function. The topic of a dream can be influenced or influenced by number of factors, including the mood of the dreamer as well as the topic of a prior dream, news, and even other events in the person's life.

In some instances it is possible to manipulate the details of a vision, as well as its outcomes. This can be accomplished using a variety and a popular method is to play a rewritten version of the dream before falling asleep.

Latent content

The issue of whether or not there's explicit and hidden messages in dreams is a subject of debate. Freud argued that the two are connected. Freud also related dreams to an Iceberg. There's one part in the iceberg's surface that can be visible above the water and the remaining part is hidden below the surface.

Freud believed there were three different parts to the mind. The mind that is conscious is at the very topmost point, while the unconscious mind and the latent are at the lowest. In his opinion, the best method of seeing the unconscious was through dreams.

There are two kinds of content in dreams: manifest and latent. The latter contains the actual dream content and the significance of it. Often, it is made up of memory fragments as well as a series of symbolic events. In theory, you can translate information that is present into latent.

Freud's axiom

Sigmund Freud's dream axiom is that dreams can be described as wish-fulfilling. This suggests that all of us are neurotic. Additionally, Freud stated that dreams are not real, but they're just a replacement for reality.

The dream's content is divided into two parts that are the manifest and the latent. The manifest aspect is what is the real content. While the latent is the hallucinatory part that is the result of dreams. The manifest content has been created by processing information. The hidden contents are desires , as well as various forms of hallucination.

There are four methods that disguise the hidden dream. These are decryption, displacement transference, disguise, and decryption. The first is displacement. This happens when a dreamer substituting elements from his or their dream with the same aspects of their dream in the thought-thoughts. It's due to the weak control of the sleep brain.
