How do you define a Dream?

A dream is a cycle of images, ideas and feelings. Every one of us is expected to experience around 2 hours of dreams per night. However, some people believe that their dreams are longer than this.

Theories of the role of dreams

Over the last two centuries, several dream theories have been formulated. These theories are based on the idea that dreams are the manifestations caused by brain activity, a psychological process that occurs in the REM stage of sleep.

During this period, the unconscious part of the brain is working hard to process memory. The result is a data stream from the memory stores that travels through the conscious portion of brain. This theory is often known as the continuous activation theory.

Another theory, referred to as the stimulus response theory, acknowledges the fact that dreams are actually a type of wish-fulfillment. This is because dreams express dreams that do not meet on a daily basis.

The theory of threat simulation proposes that dreams are a way to evolve. During the REM phase of sleep, the amygdala, which is a component belonging to the part that controls the fight or flight section of your brain, activates similarly to when faced with a threat of survival. This would have conferred the evolutionary benefit of preparing the body for the possibility of threatening events.

REM stage

The term REM (or rapid eye) movement is the word of the day when it comes to sleep. During this twilight state when the brain is at its most active, it makes the majority of its use by returning to the traits it's not yet learned during its active hours. For instance, the sexifier. This time of year, the Octavet is at its greatest at this point, making it an ideal time to be with your beloved.

The REM enclosure is also host to some of the most notable brainwaves of daily life, including more mysterious ones. Most notable occupants who are REM-bound include insomniacs and depressed types. Unsurprisingly, a new study found that depressed people are more likely to go to bed earlier as well as for longer durations of time. This is due to a combination several factors, with the main obvious being that they have an adolescent child.

Nightmares

Being a victim of nightmares is a terrifying experience. They are usually accompanied by other unpleasant feelings. They can be experienced infrequently or on a regular basis. They may also be triggered by anxiety or trauma. In certain cases, they can even be connected to medical issues.

First step to stop your nightmares is to know the way they function. The subject of a nightmare may be influenced due to a variety of factors including the mood of the person who is dreaming or the subject of a prior dream, latest news and other events within the dreams of the dreamer.

In some cases the dreamer is able to alter the content of their dreams, including the outcomes. This can be accomplished in many ways but the most effective method is to practise a different version of the nightmare prior to going to sleep.

Latent content

The issue of whether or not there's evident and latent contents in dreams is a subject of debate. Freud claimed that both are connected. Freud also related dreams to an iceberg. There's part of the iceberg that could be seen above the water but the remainder is hidden beneath the surface.

Freud believed that there are three distinct parts to the mind. Conscious mind was the tip of the iceberg, while the unconscious and the latent mind are the bottom. He believed that the best method to see the unconscious was through dreams.

There are two kinds of content in dreams: latent and manifest. The latter category includes the actual content of the dream as well as the significance behind it. The majority of the time, it's comprised of memory fragments and a set of symbolic events. In the theory of physics there's a way to transform this manifest information into latent.

Freud's Axiom

Sigmund Freud's dream axiom is that dreams are wishes that are fulfilled. This implies that everyone are neurotic. Furthermore, Freud stated that dreams aren't real, but it is a means of obtaining a substitute for reality.

The dream's content is divided into two parts one of which is the manifest, and another called the latent. The manifest part is an actual dream content, and there is a hallucinatory part which is dream-like. The content that is manifest can be attributed to processing information. The hidden contents are desires , as well as various forms of hallucination.

Four mechanisms can cover up the dream that is hidden. These are decryption, displacement transference, disguise, and decryption. The first is displacement. This happens when a dreamer transforms elements of its dream with elements in the dreams. This is due to the weakness of the brain that sleeps.
